Bromley tourist attractions

The geographically widest part of the London boroughs, the administrative headquarters of the London Borough of Bromley in Greater London, England, United Kingdom. Bromley stretches from Crystal Palace Park boasting London’s largest maze, in the west to the Cray valley in the east. It reaches out to the borders of Kent historically a market town chartered since 1158 and an ancient parish in the south, where some of suburban London’s best attractions can be found. It plays host every year to the Biggin Hill Air Fair held in June at Biggin Hill Airport, an important airfield during the Battle of Britain. Visitors to Down House, also in Bromley, can find out what the house was like in 1870 when the world-famous naturalist, Charles Darwin. Here are some Bromley borough gems.

Chisehurst Caves
Location: Caveside Cl, Old Hill, Chislehurst BR7 5NL
Caves
The woodlands of Chislehurst caves hold a secret beneath their roots. Thirty metres below ground is a complex of man-made caves carved out of the chalk by Druids, Saxons and Romans. Since then the caves have been turned to all sorts of purposes, including an ammunition dump in World War I and a mushroom farm; during World War II, they acted as Britain’s largest bomb shelter. Most of the underground scenes in the TV series ‘Merlin’ were filmed here. The 45-minute lamp lit tour covers a mile of the tunnels; children will enjoy locating the Druid Altar, the Caves Church and the Haunted Pool.
